So this is New York
I made it! For the past couple days I have been working on getting acquainted with my neighborhood in NYC. Prior to this trip, I hadn’t spent much time in Greenwich Village but it’s a nice area. Adorable townhouses line the streets and the sidewalks are shaded by small trees. Cafes and boutiques are everywhere. It’s fun to watch the villagers walking their dogs and pushing baby strollers.
My building is in West Village about two blocks from the Hudson River. My apartment is part of the student housing at NYU, so it is very basic but nice. It has a big (but not really big) living room and kitchen area and a small bathroom. It has couch but no TV and a noisy refrigerator but no microwave. It has two bedrooms complete with a bed, dresser, and small closet. My favorite feature is the view from the window. Greenwich Village doesn’t have many tall buildings, so I have a great view of the Empire State Building.
My mom came with me to help me get settled in. We are going to spend the rest of the day grocery shopping and learning the subway routes. I’m sure I will have more stories later.
